Meet the team behind Safepak

We’re a small, experienced team who genuinely care about helping businesses protect what matters. Between us, we bring decades of knowledge across tamper-evident products, secure supply chains, and running businesses in the real world.

What unites us is a practical, hands-on approach, working closely with our customers to deliver security solutions that are reliable, fit for purpose, and backed by global innovation with strong local support.

Jacob Martin

General Manager / Owner

Jacob joined Safepak in 2024, bringing a strong belief that great businesses are built around people, both clients and those who support them. With a long-held interest in helping organisations operate safely and successfully, he was drawn to Safepak’s purpose – protecting businesses through highly detailed, tamper-evident products that prevent interference and safeguard goods in transit. Being part of a close-knit team delivering world-class security solutions to our part of the world is something he genuinely enjoys.

Before Safepak, Jacob held several roles in the software industry, where he developed a deep appreciation for utilising sound commercial operations to deliver for a large number of clients. Working closely with businesses navigating operational challenges and rising logistics costs gave him firsthand insight into the real impact of product tampering. This experience now shapes his commitment to offering security solutions that protect people, assets and supply chains.

Today, Jacob combines that operational focus with a genuine passion for helping clients solve complex security challenges. As partners of the global Unisto Group, he values the chance to bring sophisticated, Swiss-developed innovation to local businesses here in NZ. Outside work, you’ll usually find him biking or playing with his young family of three kids, who he hopes will keep him young…eventually.

Scott Gardiner

Director / Owner

Scott brings over 15 years of senior leadership experience across finance, sales, marketing, IT and operations, built through roles spanning the United Kingdom, America, Australia, Singapore and New Zealand. His career began in chartered accounting before moving into the global software sector, including 12 years at MYOB leading teams across finance, customer retention, sales, marketing and strategic programmes. He also played a key role in establishing and growing a profitable regional office for a fast-scaling software company in Australia and Singapore.

This international experience has given Scott a sharp understanding of how small and medium businesses operate, the pressures they face, and the systems needed to help them grow. As an active Business Mentors New Zealand mentor, he’s known for steady guidance, commercial clarity and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

At Safepak, Scott brings that same leadership strength and practical insight, supporting businesses that need asset-protection and strengthened supply chains to help customers stay secure.

Kevin Tansey

Product Solutions Manager / Founder

Kevin founded Safepak more than 25 years ago and brings a depth of industry knowledge that’s rare to find. Having spent decades working with tamper-evident products and security solutions, he’s seen the full evolution of the sector, how products have developed, how compliance expectations have shifted, and how different industries rely on secure processes to operate safely. His understanding of the full product landscape is second to none, from how each seal is engineered to how it performs within specific business, logistics or manufacturing environments.

Kevin is known for matching the right security product to the precise needs of a process or industry, ensuring customers get tailored solutions that genuinely work within their day-to-day reality. After selling Safepak to Jacob and Scott in 2024, he remains a valued and integral part of the team, offering technical depth, product expertise and long-standing client relationships.

Outside work, Kevin enjoys time on the water, usually with a fishing rod in hand.

Matt Houston

Business Development Manager

Matt joined Safepak in 2024, bringing a strong foundation in relationship management, client success and commercial strategy. A Master of Commerce graduate from the University of Canterbury, Matt is dedicated to understanding each client’s unique challenges, delivering tailored solutions that prioritise product protection while fostering long-term business confidence.

Before joining Safepak, Matt helped establish and grow a fast-moving FMCG business operating across wholesale, e-commerce and physical retail. Outside of Safepak, Matt is a dedicated swim coach, mentoring the next generation of elite athletes from the pool deck.
